Many newer Plumas Lake homes came with a bare or basic backyard. Doing it yourself usually goes like this:
- Grade it. The mini skid steer levels the yard and moves dirt from where you have too much to where you need it.
- Trench for irrigation. The trencher attachment digs your sprinkler and drip lines in a few hours. Call 811 first.
- Haul material in and spoils out. A dump trailer brings base rock or gravel from the landscape yard and takes extra dirt away.
- Set pavers and turf. The pallet forks move pallets of pavers and rolls of sod straight to the backyard.
Renting the machine and the trailer together keeps the job moving. The weekly rates make sense here, since most backyard projects take more than a weekend.
Small side yards
Plumas Lake side yards are narrow, often a few feet between the house and the fence. A stand-on loader fits where a full-size machine can’t. Take the gate off its hinges if it’s close, and keep pets and kids inside while the machine is running.
Dump runs from Plumas Lake
The closest public drop-off is the Recology Yuba-Sutter transfer station at 3001 N. Levee Road in Marysville, north up Highway 70. It’s open every day. Call (530) 743-6933 for hours and rates. Tarp the load for the highway.

Does my HOA allow a trailer in the driveway?
That depends on your neighborhood’s rules. Many HOAs allow a trailer in the driveway for loading during a project but not parked overnight on the street. Check your rules before you book a multi-day rental.
Do I need to call 811 before trenching in Plumas Lake?
Yes. Contact 811 at least two working days before you dig. Newer subdivisions have gas, power and fiber lines running through yards, and they’ll be marked for free.
